In 1997, we met Tom and received a quote to remodel our home. His ideas were much to our liking, and the other bids were not even considered. Rick and crew did a fabulous job…attention to all details.. The remodeled part of the home was a show piece.
In 2001, Armstrong was the contractor on five homes in LaJolla. We went out to the job site a number of times, and decided to take one of the homes. We were able to incorporate a number of Tom’s ideas into this home as well. Another wonderful home……thanks to Tom, Rick and their crews.
Tom was called back, picked his brain again, and used his ideas for an extension of the deck…..again, another successful endeavor.

I am the leader at a elementary academy with an emphasis in the performing arts. When my school wanted to add a theatre and stage to its space during the summer of 2013, Armstrong Builders was suggested to conceptualize, facilitate and complete the job. Tom Armstrong presented a number of exciting and prospective options (which included a backstage area, storage for large set pieces and two dressing rooms) and he was very knowledgeable about building the structure to code with consideration that it would be used by young students. I was thoroughly impressed with Tom’s professionalism and the crews’ efficiency. Armstrong Builder’s agreed to work within my budget and honored my desired timeline. This past fall, I had the opportunity to direct a student play on our brand new stage and the students were so excited! Thanks to Armstrong Builders, they were able to have a real theatre experience and enjoyed every minute of it!

I have worked with Armstrong Construction for nearly 20 years. I have found that their expectations of subcontractors is at the highest level so that the finished product that Armstrong provides is of the utmost quality. We are supervised every step of the way to make sure we live up to the promises we make to Armstrong so that, in turn, the promises they make to their clients are held up. There are no shortcuts in a home built by Armstrong Construction.

We have just completed a remodel of the master bedroom and bath, along with the remodel of an additional full bath. We also installed dual glazed windows throughout our entire residence, with exterior stucco to repair the window areas. We couldn’t be more satisfied with all of the work provided by Tom Armstrong. The new living areas are beautiful, far exceeding our expectations of what could be done in the limited space we started with.
Tom’s designs have provided us with additional space in the master bedroom, a wonderful master bath with dual sinks and vanities, a walk in closet with a closet organizer, and a beautiful guest bath. He designed both of the baths, including the walk in shower in the master bath, and tub area in the guest bath, both with glass enclosures.
Tom was attentive to our needs and life style in providing us with floor plans, even moving a window to provide more furniture space and a better view. He put so much thought into our job, meeting with us, providing many different floor plans before we finally made a decision and were ready to proceed with the job. We never felt rushed or pressured to make a decision, and really appreciated his patience.
Tom and Rick, his Foreman, constantly monitor all work done, down to the last detail. They insist on quality work from all of the workmen. In fact, when we did have concerns, my husband and I would say to each other, “It doesn’t matter, Tom or Rick will take care of it.” They did take care of everything, without fail, making the remodeling process stress free. We are familiar with building and remodeling, as we have done both in the past, and this was the first “stress free” job we have ever been involved in. Thank you Tom and Rick, and all who worked with you.
We now have a bedroom that, with a few minor changes feels much larger, even though we have more furniture in it. We absolutely love the master bath and walk in closet. Somehow Tom thought of everything we needed in this area, with lots of extras including special features in the cabinets and shower. The same is true of our guest bath. Now that the job is finished, there isn’t one thing we would change.
If you are planning on building or doing any remodeling, you can be confident you will get a job well done with Tom, at Armstrong Builders. He will provide everything you need, from the original design and plans, through the completed job, with honesty and integrity.

Our first project was a remodel of a 1932 cottage in Mission Beach which was never renovated. It was a big project requiring adding square footage, moving walls, adding a bedroom and two bathrooms. We engaged Armstrong builders after receiving an architecture plan. However Tom Armstrong suggested some alterations to the plans that made the design much more spacious and appealing. Tom is impressive in that he is not only a builder but also an architect. Tom and his crew have an eye for detail and quality that is far above what I have experienced (we have done other remodel projects in the past with other builders). This combination of skills, his desire to do quality work, and his experience resulted in a beautiful beach house that we have been able to rent as a vacation rental with over a 100 five star ratings. Our second project is an extension to our current home to add an ADU, a gym, and a home theater. Given that we had an excellent experience with him the first time, we went with his company this time as well. Even as we combat COVID-19 as a country, he and his crew have been ultra professional in keeping the project going as best as they can. We are almost to the end – cant wait for to see the outcome!

If asked to describe these guys in one word… QUALITY. The superintendent Rick is consistently checking, as well as providing hands on assistance, on each job. Every project I have seen done by Armstrong is definitely one to brag about. They do such a great job to make sure things are always done 110% and nothing less.
